Denny Hamlin didn’t just capture the 100th Cup win for Joe Gibbs Racing.
He killed it.
Manning a No. 11 Fed Ex Freight Toyota that could not be caught, Hamlin maneuvered from 28th to the lead in a show of speed that was downright unstoppable.
And while team owner Joe Gibbs has boasted some memorable finishes over the years, this one has to be one of the most gratifying.
Hamlin led 193 of 300 laps and clocked the highest number of fastest laps run at 98.
His margin of victory was a whopping 2.675 seconds.
And the win came in the second race for the Chase for the Sprint Cup.
In addition to Hamlin’s Loudon-win die-cast, which will come with the tire scuffs and scratch marks seen on the No. 11 car in Victory Lane, Lionel NASCAR Collectables is also offering a historic set of 1:64 cars which commemorates six of the team’s milestone wins.
The cars included in this special 100th Win Set are:
- Dale Jarrett’s Interstate Batteries
Daytona 500 car from 1993, which was the team’s first victory.
- The Home Depot car which Tony Stewart
drove to the team’s 20th win at Michigan in 2000
- Bobby Labonte’s 2003 Interstate
Batteries car from Homestead, which was the team’s 40th win
- Denny Hamlin’s 2008 win at Martinsville,
the 60th win for the team
- Kyle Busch’s 2010 M&M’s car from
Richmond; which marks win number 80
- Denny Hamlin’s Loudon-winning Fed Ex
Freight Toyota which clinched the team’s 100th win.
